Untitled
2014 paper mache & gold leaf Statement: This sculpture is a piece that raises questions of value and legality through the reappropriation of money. It speaks to many facets of the psych, and reflects our modern cultural obsession with material goods and wealth. It is superficially whimsical, sarcastic, and even comical that upon inspection can reveal a deep investigation of the current state of modern and western society. |

"Art"
2013 Plaster, Gold Leaf, & Chocolate Statement: A project focused on materials, reproduction, and the questions of what art has the potential to be. A comment on the modern culture of accepting anything as art, and masking the mundane as art pieces. |

"Hooked"
2014 wax, fishing line, fishing hooks Statement: This piece was also an exploration in material and how non-traditional art objects can transform. I created wax sculptures of peculiar body parts and attached them to fishing hooks with lines hanging from the ceiling. This piece was not intended to be beautiful, as it's wax coloring and vaseline coated body parts suggests.. This piece speaks to other messages such as the human body as bait, and how generally getting hooked on substances or beliefs can cause us to loose a part of ourselves and our humanity. |
"Scrolls"
2014 Tin Foil Statement: This piece is an investigation in art materials. It displays the seemingly mundane or non-traditional object in a grandiose way. It encourages viewers to question how the display of something affects the response to the content or object. The seemingly meaningless materials appear as sacred museum scrolls would, but have a reflective quality that encourages viewers to gaze upon themselves as they gaze upon the art piece. |
"Relief"
2012 welded metal and fabric Statement: A collaborative welding and fabric piece sparked by the occurrence of hurricane sandy in October of 2012.. This piece hit home for artists working and living in New Jersey. The piece was displayed by the water for a final critique. The sculpture speaks to time, and the cycle of destruction and rebuilding. |
